Alchemy Tribal Collective – Sarah Johansson Locke
Alchemy Performance is a forum for crosscultural and multimedia collaborations. Here, alchemy is the spark that ignites when people create and invent together...the energy between performers on stage, and between performers and their audience...an artistic fusion that creates something even more compelling than any of the single elements can be on its own. Our current projects include Alchemy Dance Theater, The Alchemy Tribal Collective, the HYBRID performance series at Galapagos Art Space (next show is July 20) and ongoing collaborations with artists in all media. The Alchemy Tribal Collective is a contemporary global dance company that celebrates the alchemy of tradition and innovation, tribal and urban, ritual and spectacle. The company's energetic and sinuous style samples from the traditional dances of countries from India to Morocco to Spain and mixes them with elements of contemporary dance from butoh to hip hop. The result is a moving collage across cultures, from the ancient to the modern. Begins around 1:45pm at Disorient (between DJ sets.)

The Blue Notes – Tom Zlabinger
The York College Blue Notes are a high school big band in residence at York College (CUNY) in Jamaica, NY. The members of Blue Notes are New York City public high school musicians who are alumni of the York College Summer Jazz Program sponsored by College Now. Their repertoire includes music by Count Basie, Ray Charles, John Coltrane, Chick Corea, Miles Davis, Earth, Wind, & Fire, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Eddie Harris, Kool & The Gang, Sonny Rollins, Rose Royce, Booker T. & the MG's, Stevie Wonder, Joe Zawinul, and more.
In addition to performances at York College, the Blue Notes have performed at the Afrikan Poetry Theatre, Baruch College, the Forest Hills Jazz Festival, the Jamaica Arts & Music Festival (JAMS), John Jay College, the Louis Armstrong House, Make Music NY, and the Sutphin Boulevard Concert Series. To date, the Blue Notes have included students from Bayside High School, Forest Hills High School, Frank Sinatra High School, Gateway High School, John Bowne High School, LaGuardia High School, Midwood High School, Newcomers High School, Newtown High School, Queens High School for the Sciences, Talent Unlimited High School, Townsend Harris High School, University Heights HS, and William Bryant High School.

Body Recycling – Angela Freiberger
We will create 7 to 14 sculptures that consider the interaction and relationship between humans and nature and our thoughts about the role of the human species on the Earth.
At the beginning of the performance we cut out square pieces of nylon fabric, then we trace different parts of our and audience's bodies [head, feet, etc.] onto the nylon surface. We fill the outlines with cotton and plant sprouted wheat seeds into the cotton. As time passes the sprouts start growing, transforming the outlines of our bodies, connecting the idea of bodies back to nature.
By planting new life in our own image and thus envisioning nature as ourselves we invite a positive and constructive relationship with nature that can be a solution for contemporary environmental problems. We are striving to demonstrate the potential for reconstructing our lost relationship and return back to Mother Nature with peace. The performance implies a message of action encouraging the viewer to awaken and relate to the urgency of the growing problems with our environment and ourselves.

CHANGE 0 – Joel Mejia
With a little bit of this and a little bit of that, CHANGE 0 is the first of the two-part release, which takes the listener from one musical rhythm to the next, reflecting what Azusu believes is , the natural state of all things through music. Although CHANGE (0) does not sound far from something familiar, it is noticeably unique than most of the music currently being released. Listeners will hear elements of dance, hip-hop, tropical rhythms; combined with spoken word and vocal experimentations.
Children's Game Project – Louisa Armbrust
You are invited to take part in the Children's Games Project by re-creating the games found in an early Renaissance painting. Children's Games, painted by Peter Bruegel in 1560, shows over 80 games being played in a town square. I have created a set of drawings cataloging the individual games shown in the painting. These drawings serve as a guide for participants to pick their favorite game to re-enact. Participants may play the game, or simply re-create the pose as shown in the painting. In either case the results are recorded on camera and shared via a website.
CounterSquirt – Greg Trefry and Mattia Romeo from Come Out & Play
CounterSquirt is the the squad-based game of water gun tactics. Prepare to get wet!
In this big game, you will compete in teams to find and escort specific targets back to headquarters while running the gauntlet of other teams looking to ambush you. It's a fast-paced game harking back to childhood days of pure fun. CounterSquirt offers the chance for a little tactics and a lot of water gun rampages.
Drawin – Mollyne Karnofsky
“In nature there are so many stimuli. The work "Drawing" suggests many things to me. Nature encourages me to draw with varied materials some which may expand beyond a piece of paper. Therefore, I plan creating an expanded environment by drawing with anything I find on site or bring and inviting the audience to draw on small pieces of paper which when combined extends their perspective and concept of drawing."
Edible Plant Walk – Nat Bletter
Ethnobotanist and DIY'er Nat Bletter is the maker of many things from home made lotions and teas to jams and herbal remedies. He is Ph.D. candidate at The City University of New York in Ethnobotany and he specializes in medicinal plants of Peru and Mali, quantitative ethnobotany, and stimulant plants such as cacao. He has also worked as a computer graphics and virtual reality researcher for 7 years, and created sculpture, graphic art, music, electronic art, and fire art from an early age.
The Ersatz.com – TJ K.M & Yana K.M
The Ersatz.com store is intended to provide for visitors beautiful (but useless) handcrafted artworks from recycled materials. It also functions as a parody of a consumer culture that scavenges and strips the Earth in order to make questionable products for a public that does not question. As a parody the Ersatz.com store allows a friendly doorway through which to enter and investigate the causes of environmental misuse.
Group-Building Games – Melanie Gold
We will play games which enhance concentration, perception and your awareness of others. These games were developed to aid in understanding of ones self and how one relates in groups. Working together and building community will be stressed in our play session. Open to all ages. Children under 12 must be accompanied by adults. Just bring yourself and your sense of play! Wear comfortable clothing. Some of the activities will be physical, while others are more thought provoking.
The Krinkl-O-Tron – Leif Krinkle
The Krinkl-O-Tron is a human powered carousel that generates electricity. As the rides turn round and round on four razor scooters they spin the shaft of a DC generator that provides the electricity for the 6-foot column of LED in the center of the carousel. The amount of electricity the riders generates also controls the speed of the musical soundtrack.

Based on your limberness and comfort level we'll put you through your appropriately-challenging limbo paces, set to the cheesiest tunes around, and reward you with ice-cold lemonade when you’ve limbo'd your finest. Come in a group and see how low you can go, come by yourself and make new friends, come play with us (we re pretty spry), and remember: being in Limbo can be fun! Bring your kids, too. Manhattan Samba Performance – Ellen Cooper
Manhattan Samba is New York's premiere authentic samba percussion ensemble. Led by master percussionist Ivo Araujo from Rio de Janeiro, it entertains young and old and everyone in between with their joyous, celebratory samba rhythms.

Misericordiam – Ranjit Bhatnagar
A lonely accordion swings from a tree, softly playing melancholy tunes to itself. Misericordiam, an accordion robot by Ranjit Bhatnagar, started out as part of a giant walk-through music box at the Flux Factory in Long Island City. Since then it's been exhibited at galleries in SOHO and Philadelphia, but this is its first time al fresco.

SISTERS – Dan Snow
"SISTERS" consists of two separate entities of the same "sex" joined for this Festival. "Wood You Believe" (2005) grew from a rotted railroad tie that split before the artist's eyes. "Charity Girl" (2006) grew from a book dealing with the involuntary incarceration by the U.S. government of women suspected of spreading VD among the enlistees for WWI. The women were forced to do maintenance work in their group homes and submit to medical treatments to cure their supposed diseases. Both pieces by Dan Snow.

The Society for Creative Anachronism, commonly called the SCA, is a non-profit, educational, medieval re-creation group. The term ‘anachronism’ refers to something that is out of its own time and place, and if you are watching people in armor fighting with swords and shields in the 21st century, you are seeing something anachronistic. We try to recreate the medieval and renaissance eras, bringing all the arts and sciences of those days into the present: the fighting in armor, archery, fencing, brewing and cooking, calligraphy and illumination, sewing, embroidery, spinning and weaving, dancing, singing. We study and then do all of these and more- and then many of us teach these arts and sciences to others.

Using clay and steel, water, earth and air to blow glass into small ornate visions of beauty. It's amazing to watch, mesmerizing actually, watch glass turn into it's fire red molten form and be released into your hands in bright colors and shapes.
Wish Tree – Anne Arden McDonald
A beautiful little birch tree will be wrapped with lace, fabric and thread. Visitors will be invited to write a wish or prayer on a strip of fabric and tie it into the tree. All of the strips will be burned together at a later time.

ZyGo – James Daher
The sperm must find the egg! This 45 minute challenging race to the finish requires a team composed of a minimum of three people physically tethered together to make a sperm. The game starts with the destruction of the hymen (all teams run through a large sheet of paper). Each team (sperm) receives a packet containing components to construct their costume, and tools are provided to complete the mission and find the egg. Every sperm gets a map and a pen. Other goodies are distributed at random and it is luck of the draw who gets what. Using the provided tools the sperm must move about the city performing challenges to solve clues that will tell them the possible location of the egg. The egg is also moving through the city. There are three potential spots where the egg may be fertilized, however the egg will only be there for a few minutes. The sperm needs to figure out not only where the egg's locations are but when the egg will be there so that it does not get there too early or too late. Once the sperm finds the egg at the right location, the sperm team will have to work together to assist one member over to the egg for fertilization. The catch, only the person who actually fertilizes the egg can win.
ZyGo is a game of time, mind, cooperation, and sacrifice.
