Dear Attendees, Thanks to everyone who came out to FIGMENT on Sunday, July 8, 2007! Nothing could have prepared us for the overwhelming show of enthusiasm and participation we experienced. Thousands of people showed up and rode metal and tire tread horses, learned African dance routines, got their faces painted, listened to music, danced to electrifying DJs, watched medieval swordplay, admired beautiful artwork and experienced dozens of other projects and activities. If you'd like to see the press we're getting, click here. We've already started working on planning our 2008 festival. If you have any comments or suggestions for us, please write to us at info@figmentnyc.org. And, in order to keep up-to-date with FIGMENT as we begin to plan our 2008 event, please make sure you sign up for our mailing list. Sincerely, The FIGMENT Team
Figment's creative spirit is enhanced by its location, Governors Island. Governors Island is a former military base undergoing a rejuvenation as a ecologically sustainable public space for the people of New York City. It boasts breathtaking city views, endless green meadows and historic buildings and monuments. Figment presents a clean slate for you to realize your vision! Through collaborative and interactive art, volunteering and fun, Figment seeks to build a community based on creativity and participation. For attendance and transportation details click here. Figment is produced by Action Arts League, a downtown NYC based not-for-profit arts association in collaboration with pureproject and a coalition of NYC artists and community groups.
